The opening sequence is mind blowing

... but the rest of the film deteriorates quite quickly. This must be the best example of a film where the beginning carries immense promise, but once the film gets really started it turns out to be a rather ordinary crime thriller. Panic Room could be another example of that. It's a pity the whole of Smilla couldn't deliver the same atmosphere we can see in the opening scenes about the Arctic sea, the fisherman, and the meteor falling.
