Had potential, but wow did it DRAG!

I am someone who usually loves a *slow-burner* film. I love details & time taken to tell a story & flesh out characters.
But this one was a serious challenge to get through!

Could the characters ever show more than 2 facial expressions?!
Do we really need 5 MINUTES of focusing on a characters' face for no reason?

Why show Smilla as someone who is afraid to be touched or get close to people, yet never explain why?
The ending was flat given the buildup as well.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?

Fiatlux...as soon as I read that you like slow films I thought of The Secret Life of Words with Tim Robbins and Sarah Polley. Have you seen it? It has been a while since I watched it, but I thought it was very good. I will not tell the plot as I think that is better told on its thread than I could. I have a different taste in films than my friends who are stuck on blockbusters. I would be interested in what you think if you ever see it. It stays with you.
