Just watching SSoS after recently seeing the X Files 'Ice" episode and was so surprised at the similarity.it's the exact same worm.

Indeed! The plot is very X-Files-esque, extremely similar to "Ice" as well to another episode, "Firewalker".

My goodness, Palawandy, you're right! Miss Smilla's Sense Of Snow* was published in 1992 in Engliish so it probably did inspire that 1993 X-Files episode. It was called Ice.

*Original title of novel that inspired the film
