You know, I thought Lydia might move on from Gerry, too, but a friend of mine who saw the movie with me (and who has worked in the psych field) had a different take on it. She felt that Lydia's big rant to Gerry about being stuck at the metaphorical station waiting for him was just manipulation and part of her game to get him to leave Helen. This is backed up by her later outing Gerry to Helen and thus ridding herself of her rival, as she saw it.
The irony is that Gerry is probably just going to find another Helen, hook up with her, and continue to have Lydia as his side dish. And Lydia will probably put up with it because she's too narcissistic (and addicted to the drama of it all) to admit she's not the one in charge. She may even stay with him because she prefers to be the Other Woman. For all her screaming and theatrics, Lydia is pretty weak and pathetic.
