The boyfriend was such a dork, skittish, loser, it was so unlikely he would get any woman, let alone 2 hot ones.

The character should have been a good looking businessman who was a snake.

Yes. He was the weak link in the whole film with that permanent hangdog expression on his face. I just couldn't believe that these two women wanted him so much. He needed to be presented as a more interesting character.

I thought Lydia is very ugly in this. Just the character, I think it’s her hair but she looks awful

No way. Jeanne Tripplehorn was hot, especially in this film, especially in the scene where she's caught by Paltrow with her cheating boyfriend.

Everything about him was wrong for this role. Looks, beta personality, et al.

I dont know why Howitt thought him a good choice.
