When Simba invited Kovu inside to sleep with the rest of the pride, Vitani was telling him to kill Simba. But really Kovu was not alone with Simba and could still be outnumbered. That was just stupid.

Yeah, I never understood that either. Simba would surely cry out and the rest of the pride would come to Simba's aid. Even if Vitani helps, they don't have much chance. He could have asked to talk to Simba, gone off and killed him out of sight, but come on, in front of the cave?! I'd expect that logic (or lack of) from Nuka, but not Vitani.
I also don't understand why she reported this. What was he supposed to do? Attack him within sight of the pride in the cave?? Seems like Zira doesn't care Kovu is killed as long as he takes Simba down with him...
