One of the More Enjoyable Films Ever? You Decide...

Yes it is!! Anyone agree? I love it!!!

reply

I watched it for Stuart Townsend, I mean what a hottie!

"Growl."-Dorian

"Boo."-Jesse
"Boo back"-Lestat

reply

i watched it for Kate Beckinsale, she is beautiful, but i'm not too keen on the short hair.

reply

what are you talking about, she's ultrahot with that short hair

reply

I actually thought Beckinsale looked very average in this film. Borderline rough. It may be just me though.

reply

I agree! The short hair looks awesome! I remember when I first saw it, it was one of the first times I ever thought a girl truly looked amazing with short hair.

reply

Yes but i think thats her appeal! she's just so sweet and innocent! i love her always

reply

Wow! I can see you really appreciate other people's opinions...good luck with that!

Some people, including me, may Shudder and Twitch at the thought of E.T. being considered as one of the best films of all time.

The greatness of a film is a matter of opinion! And I concur with Neil mc...ET? One of the greatest films ever?

Shooting Fish is simply entertaining and pleasant and fun! Why can't it be a favourite of mine?

Now ET on the other hand...that has...erm...an alien?

I'm not a fan of this film. The insane amount of britpop on the soundtrack is an example of the fact that this film got made by cashing in on the "Cool Britannia" movement of the time. It was a young british film with at least two young british leads. The only reason I checked out this board was because it was on tv the other night and I was watching "Big Fish" and the word fish, you see where I'm going. Now I can't imagine this film is above average in any way, but I also can't understand why someone who thinks the film is a piece of *beep* is on this board constantly bad mouthing anyone who this film appealed to.

P.S. I thought E.T. was great as a kid, but I also thought there was half human half monkey living in the trees near my house. That film is sentimental bollocks.

I didn't put the bleep in there, imdb edited my profanity. If you said it was crap with tongue in cheek does that mean you like it? The reason I stuck my ore in is because you are a sad little forum pest, but mainly because your elitist snobbery makes me sick.

reply

[deleted]

Alright man if you really want to be so pedantic, should I point out that I never used quotation marks and therefore it was not a quote. Also, why should I change "sad little forum pest" when it sums you up so perfectly, especially seeing as that choice of words has clearly got you riled. Now don't come here challanging my intelligence alright, that's the first thing everyone goes for when they get in some disagreement on a forum. And trying to patronise me by telling me to run along to school, please. I eagerly await your response to this post, please be original. I'm sure you're a perfectly intelligent guy and that we're both old enough to know that this argument is pointless, if amusing. So come on! Reply and make it good. No cheap pot shots about intelligence and read it a couple of times, so you know that your ramblings are not completely irrelevant to what I said (i.e. the way you fabricated my quoting your piece of crap). Love and Hugs!

Did you actually say "You started it"?

"interllect" = intellect
"Liza Manelly" = Liza Minnelli.
"implyed" = implied
"beceause" = because
"admited" = admitted
"deffend" = defend
You quoted original as "origional"
My favourite could be "You can't even construct a sentences for Fuc#s sake ( Sorry, I let spelling mistakes go, but you take the Piss bobyboy?" I count one spelling mistake (I'm assuming Fuc#s is so you don't get a bleep) and two grammatical errors, I could be wrong.

You've been right all along. I'm the stupid one. How can I knock a genius like yourself for questioning my intelligence? And "you started it". I'm speechless. You're eloquence is destroying me. I'm such a retard. Please take off your shoes and socks so I may bow down and kiss the feet of someone who is clearly a God to my humble insect. At parents evening did you frequently hear the words must try harder?

Big Kiss!!!

Listen everybody hahaha. I did edit my post because I realised that I was letting you off, however I extended my post. I deleted nothing. I realised I could click edit rather than delete and then write a new post as you did, how shameful. I was simply pointing out that to question my intellect, comment that my spelling "takes the piss", talk about how maybe I should be running off to school whilst including sentences such as "You can't even construct a sentences for Fuc#s sake ( Sorry, I let spelling mistakes go, but you take the Piss bobyboy?" is a joke. You obviously missed that besides writing "a sentences" you also forgot to close your brackets, and it's not even a question. Humiliatingly in a sentence suggesting I cannot construct one, you made several spelling and grammar errors. The irony. And this is while you slag of my spelling and question my intellect. Now think about this. You slag of my spelling yet try to claim it an invalid point when it turns out your own spelling is much worse. "If you can't deffend against my accusations/comments in you next...err reply I won't waist my time responding--and thats not beceause your good." I even let "waist my time" go when it should have been waste. Thank you for responding. The fact that you now try to get onside the people you were slagging off (see "listen everybody") only accents weakness in your principles as well as intellect. Also your response confirms that I am worth responding to which I almost consider a compliment. Now maybe it is you who should realise you are out of your league and run off to bed. Although I do find you amusing. One thing that makes you hilariously funny is your arrogance ("God I'm good") despite blatant displays of idiocy. Why not salvage some pride and leave it? If you were as good as you think, you would'nt have replied again. You did, and I can get a rise out of you whenever I want. So reply and I get my kicks, don't reply and I get the last say.

Lots of love and a big hug going out especially to you!!!

Almost every argument you've made involves some completely random like I've admitted some form of ignorance. Where does this come from? However I love you. Let's be friends and ride off into the sunset holding hands. We can be trolls together like the end of Shrek. I've even got my own donkey. I speaka Engliiiiish. I learnt it from a booooooka!

[deleted]

Where did the peanut butter come from? Is it something you want to smear my body with? Because I can go for that if you feel the same. I love the way you talk tough. So does donkey. I'll let you be dominant. Mmmmmmmm-hmmmmmmm!

Special kisses!!

hey people, i just happen to of not seen this film yet, a friend gave it to me as a gift, and as i always do, i check it out on IMDB first, and see that someone says its one of the best films ever, now im not one for saying ET is amazing, but it is gud, but i really doubt this film will be anywhere near as good as The Godfather, now i might be biased in saying that, but im going to watch the film now, but please dont argue about which film is the best, and comparing it, u can have ur opinion, and they can have theres, but in the end, we are all individuals, unique, each and ever one of us. so if one person likes the film and the other does, sod it, it dont matter to u, it was released so it cant be that bad... can it?

I've been sitting here with my son for the last thirty minutes reading your argument, and I just wanted to let you know that both of us have gone oxygen less for seconds at a time, due to the humor of this argument.

A small realization for both of you, this has been off topic since the first few posts.

BTW, we enjoyed the movie. It is not the best, but decent entertainment!

What the hell? I've not been on here for a few days cos I had a computer virus and I come back and I thought we'd actually managed to stop pointlessly digging at each other and now I hear I have some other persona and have created another account. I don't really know why I'm writing this as you probably won't believe me anyway, but I have no idea why someone would bother to create another account for the sake of a joke which I thought was over anyway. Can whoever the other guy is come back and start your own argument with this guy as I've laid mine to rest as neither of us were going to accept a loss and I thought I'd made peace with the cuddly bear. I honestly have no intention of taking our correspondence any further. I don't know what sock puppets and trolls have to do with me, but I only have one IMDB account. It's no longer anything to do with me. And for the record I do love Big Fish and it does make me cry, it's ace. My IMDB history is short simply because I don't write much stuff on it, I just check it out when I see something on telly or read something that I want to check some stuff on. Like today I read that the original Starsky (Jean Michael Glaser) directed "the running man" and I wanted to know what else he'd done. Now go and play with that other guy.

Much Love!!!

I tried to bring this to an end peacefully I really did. This double identity thing you think I have is a real paranoid dellusion. If you actually think someone would do that, you must be taking this pretty seriously. I indulged you because it was funny, I could say anything and you went mad, and I apologise for that. I didn't expect you to take this so seriously. This isn't some "troll" trick to make you stop. I don't expect you to, but it's not funny anymore so I won't be indulging this bizarre argument from here on.

laygz, every one of your posts here has been irredeemably moronic; each one offering an insight into your delusional overestimation of your own wit and intellect. You haven't managed to construct anything resembling a good argument, and you seem to think it's unacceptable to paraphrase using synonyms. Specifically, I'm assuming the word censored by IMDb as "*bleep*" is one that means the same as "crap" -- and don't give me that rubbish about it making your stance seem harsher, as if there's some sort of gradation of crap as denoted by the word used.

Also, I know you hate being corrected on your spelling mistakes, but the phrase is "sticking your oar in", not "...ore in". How the hell does someone stick their "ore" in? You idiot. (Referring to a particular post, you said that you'd only spent five minutes on it. That's actually a lot of time to write the crap that you come out with. Are you mentally subnormal?) Then you cry foul at bobthegrinch's use of "sad little forum pest" as if he was trying to pass it off as his own insult, when it would be clear to all but the most challenged that his use of the phrase was a reference to your own.

Finally, I can only assume that the peanut butter fantasies are a projection of your own desires. Why else would you conjure up such a peculiar perversion? Many a true word spoken in jest and all that. You also need to check your priorities if you're prepared to pursue a petty internet quarrel ad infinitum. Several of your posts have been updated minutes or even hours after originally being posted. Clearly you don't spend as little time on the posts as you claim, as you are evidently mulling over the little polished turds that are your posts even hours after squeezing them out. Do you even have a life beyond being a boorish bore on the internet?

I've seen you post this on the Dan Futterman message board. I don't agree with you, but I have to say I did laugh. :D

reply

[deleted]

I must agree with you. Shooting fish is a feel-good film, and in that way, one of the best movies ever! You don't need too much brain (not meant as an offense!), it is nice just to relax to a movie, and not have to worry about missing the plot. Anyway, it's a great film!!!

reply

How good a film is is not a matter of opinion. How much you like it, however, is. You can say that this is your favourite film all you like and nobody will argue...

But it is not a great film.

Likewise ET is not a great film. it lacks depth and any real meaning. It was born purely out of cemmercialisation and is soully for the family market (And probably does quite well at appealling to its target) as is much of speilbergs stuff.

By the way if you have an argument don't immediately go against it:

"The greatness of a film is a matter of opinion! And I concur with Neil mc...ET? One of the greatest films ever?"

reply

It's certainly not one of the best films ever made, but it was a good watch. I loved it! It was really funny, especially the part when they tried to get injured in prison. Haha! Funny stunt! I never knew Stuart Townsend was in it, as I consider myself a big fan (he is such a hottie!) The first time I laid eyes on him was in QotD. That movie may have sucked, but he was a real hottie in it! Anyways, I just got to watch Shooting Fish yesterday. Good movie. =) Very funny.

I agree, it is a very nice film. If you like this spunky Kate Beckinsale, I can recommend 'Uncovered' , in which she has a very nice leading role.
The story reminded me a bit of the Argentinian movie 'Nine Queens', but this one is much more funny and happy.

+++ ies it safe? +++

reply

[deleted]

Yeah great film. I'm also tempted to get my DVD out, classic Dubstar track on it too.
Old britpop woo!

reply

Oooh. Nice to hear someone saying good things about 'Uncovered'. I've wanted to see it, being that I've been a long-time Kate fan since Shooting Fish was a new film. But I didn't want to see it that bad unless I read a good review. Now, I'm going to track it down. Thanks.

reply

Agreed. It's my favourite movie!

reply

Yes, very enjoyable!
