I just saw this movie for the second time, yesterday and I liked it better than I did the first time i saw it.... It has a lot to do with the acting, especially Sean Penn and his wife Robin Wright Penn made terrific performances, but also the little girl was good... Harry Dean Stanton also did a fine job, but I was dissapointed by John Travolta... He just doesn't fit in in theese type of movies!!!

I totally agree. I just watched it for the second time and was really stuck by how good the acting was. Sean Penn was amazing-he brought me to tears like 5 times. He completely makes you believe his characters. Robin Wright Penn was great too.

amanda, i know this is a very old thread but i am about to see this a 3rd time (since i 1st saw it in 1997)so i was reading misc. IMDB comments. What I remember most about this film is the total chemical bond between sean and robin. I was completely mesmerized. I felt the same watching Anna Magnani and Marlon Brando in The Fugitive Kind . She's So Lovely was SUCH a 40's film in feeling and characters. In a lifetime of film going, it was one of the most memorable for me.
