I reall need to know if this movie is truly rated r for brief language. I need to know if there is like sex in it befor i can see it. SOME ON HELP PLEASE!!!

There's really no sex in the film, though it is mentioned. The brief language that the R rating refers to probably has more to do with references to incest than any actual bad language. If I didn't know it was rated R I would guess that it was PG13 at best.

Richard E. Grant says "F*ck" Once. that's how brief the language is. And the other than one full kiss, there is nothing remotely sexual...it's all elluded to. Are you underage is that why you can't see this film with sex scene? Frankly i don't care if a movie has one or not, (well within reason i'd rather not see soft core in the middle of a film that has NOTHING to do with plot mind you).

Like dannerlc explained, because "fu*k" being said once or twice.
Silly reason, but that's the ratings board in the USA.

I don't mind swearing in movies, but in this movie, and being a period movie, I don't know why they had to use THAT one word. I think it was only one time, and it wasn't even Ewan saying it!!![his favoite word!!!] I still don't think it should have been R rateing. PG13 would have been good enough.

This movie is truly a case of a wrongly rated film. Some of the posters mentioned the f word, I just watched it on video just now and I didn't even notice it. There is NO sex, there no nudity, and there is only one kiss that folks might dislike, one guy plants one on another, but it's not a love kiss, it's a trick spiteful plant. The other countries having shown the movie rated it 11-13, which is much more appropriate.

Unfortunately, I think the R rating killed this movies english speaking market because of its prudishness, quite a shame really because it's a really nice movie and deserved a wider audience.

I remember seeing the beautiful bare ass of Mr. Mc Grergor in this one, in an open landscape or field or sth. like this...or am I already hallucinating?
