Yep, he did a great job. I saw an interview (about 2008) where Selena's dad said he had watched EJO's performance during the making of the movie and asked his wife, "Do I really do all those things?" and she agreed that EJO really captured his mannerisms and little behaviors in the role of Selena's father.

I just found the interview on youtube. It's called SELENA - BIOGRAPHY CHANNEL SPECIAL and is in 2 parts, I think.
Chris, Suzette, A.B., Mr. Quintanilla, and people who worked with Selena were all interviewed. I didn't get to see the whole show when it aired on TV. I'm going to go watch it on youtube right now. :)
