Would Her English Album Had Sold Well If She Hadn't Died?

just curious. i could fall in love and dreaming of you are great songs but i remember after she died and the album came out people i knew who never heard of her or her music bought that album. so im curious how it would've done if she hadn't died. would it still have sold well?

I'd say so, I heard one of the songs on either radio or tv in a restaurants years after her death. It was a rare occurrence for me to seek out the title. I searched for more of her songs and only then learned of her tragic story.

At least for me, the songs were both uplifting and fun. A CBS exec signed her with a label thinking she would be the next Gloria Estefan. She only had a couple of English songs and they are still played today on the radio. I think there would've been no limits to her career.

There's no doubt in my mind her English album would've been successful. Selena's talent was limitless.

I think it would. Had she lived, I think her singles from Dreaming of You would have done better on the charts and would have gotten better music videos respectively.

Nice 2 laugh, but don't be the joke.👎✋

She would have been able to promote it. Considering how charismatic Selena was many people would have been charmed be her and impressed by her outstanding voice.

In case you're wondering, I'm female.

It was already successful it surpassed Maria Carey's sales. It sold 175,000 copies in one day. It remained number 1 on the Billboard hot 100 for 52 weeks. It went 5×platinum in 3 months. Till this day it has sold more than 35 million copies all over the world. Selena is the first Hispanic Female Singer to accomplish this kind of success since Janet Jackson.

So yes her English album was very successful even though it was not complete. She would of continued to have more English songs and more success if she did not die.

I think it would have done great. the label would have pushed the album, she would have toured the country, made tv appearances. she would have been huge

reply

Definitely, she was on a rocket ride to become a legend. One of those entertainers who can work into old age and still pull a crowd.

It's almost as if Jennifer Lopez took over the career Selena would have had if she lived. But then again, they don't exactly have the same personality or background and Selena has the better voice, so maybe not.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

The sad thing is we'll never know. Anyone can make a guess, I think that's what makes it so tragic, it was all taken away from her too soon.

reply

It is a crushing weight. What a sad shame. She's an angel, singing in heaven.

reply

I like to think it would.

I think Selena would've become a huge star and if she would've been still alive her English album would've sold millions of copies and she would've been on her way to be as successful as Madonna or Gloria Estefan but I think if Selena was alive today her new albums would be aiming her for the R&B market much like Mariah Carey is doing. For comparison a singer who was gonna be huge and follow the same dream as Selena but never got the chance to be a big star on a huge label due to her early death is Eva Cassidy and when Eva Cassidy died much like Selena people knew little about Eva's music and they started buying her only albums so they could discover more about Eva Cassidy and with Selena it's the same thing. I think Selena will become a popular movie again due to Selena The Series so people can learn more about her

“Good career move.”

Of COURSE her death boosted sales.

Sheesh.
