The whole movie takes place in just...TWO...FULL...days

Day 1: Maureen and Phil's murder at the theater
Day 2: The whole day when Sidney learns about the murder, media craze, Cici's death and the Sorority/Fraternity mix (including Sidney's attack)
Day 3: Sidney being guarded, Randy's death, Sidney and Halie's attack, climax at the theater
Day 4: The morning after...

That's it!!! All this craze about just two days of madness

-It's the end of something simple and the beginning of everything else...

I think they all take place within the span of a couple of days at best

Yeah, the other films do as well (except for 3, which arguably spans across at least three or four days.)

It makes the most sense for them to only take place over 48 to 96 hours. Any longer and people would wisen up; Police would be allocating round-the-clock 5-team protective details with SWAT backing them up and everyone who thought there's even a chance of coming within 100 feet of knife-wielding psycho would armed themselves to the teeth with guns, mace, knifes, brass-knuckles, tasers and pretty much anything they could physically carry.
