To those who have seen it--

To those who have seen it, does this film have any similiar style to previous Haneke films, or is it totaly different?

reply

It's not as intense... nor as great.

But still worth seeing, I suppose.

I wouldn't say it's not as good. It's not nearly as shocking, but with a steady plot/narrative, it's definitely the most commercially accessible. The ending is the only haneke thing about it, in my opinion.

Acting is superb btw.

I think its very simliar in style to his films before and after it. Beautiful mise and cinematography, long takes, wide shots, a story of alienation, brilliant performances from Ulrich Muhe and Susanne Lothar, etc. If you like his other stuff you should check it out.

Reminded me of The White Ribbon.
