knowing the author of the film

Personally knowing the author of the film, let me add a little to the discussion. Robert Orr crossed into Bosnia, at the height of the war, to come away with the idea for "Savior". His biggest idea for the story was from a soldier in a bar (who went on and on about his exploits and the exploits of others). So while there are great truths, there is also poetic license. The film is about the redemption of one man (no more, no less). As to the discussion about this being Serbian propaganda, all I know is that the author originally looked from a Bosnian Muslim point of view, but that was changed by the Serbian director (much to the author's dismay). I do not know if there is still an archive of the author's speech, from the q&a session at the Belcourt, at The Tennessean, but a bit more is explained there. I hope this is of some help (might make more of a mess)
