I can attest to that. This movie will leave a heavy mark on you long after you watch it. You'll never forget this movie.

Although thoroughly enjoying this movie i fear i can never watch it again. The realism of it was shocking and am not ashamed to admit it moved me to tears. I am neither affiliated with this region or know anyone from there but no human being should be subjected to what those poor people had to endure.

reply

Damn I have to see this film! I love sad films, not to mention ones that leave a heavy mark.

A great american quality action movie that finally makes sense when it comes to the topic of war. In contrary to tons of crazy, warloving, patriotic **** coming from hollywood, this flick has quality and it makes sense. A wonderful war movie, that has the visual quality of »Band of Brothers« and the moral value of »Bowling for Columbine«. Yes!

A very powerful and truly moveing film. It genuinally makes you look at how fickle and trivial some of our problems are when you look at the horrors and sorrow that others in the world endure.
Dennis Hopper shows what a truly amazing actor he can be, very believable.

reply

Dennis Quaid I guess, but Dennis Hopper would have been a great Serb I guess.

Great movie which you will think it is real.No machism of main american character,no anti-serb propaganda crap we used to watch in movies like "Behind enemy lines" or "Welcome to Sarajevo".This is REAL.You could called this film-"How would Rambo look like if he was real character?"

reply

I have to say that the most brutal and gut wrenching part of the movie was with the shell shocked muslim grandma with the fruit...Man that part always leaves me with all kinds of raging emotions, among them sorrow, anger, and even hatred. Not against ideals or Serbs or anything of the sort, just assh*les like Goran.

reply

You definitely had to enjoy seeing Goran get killed after what he did to Vera and the Muslim "grandma."
I think the most despicable character was Vera's father. I guess I'll never understand the "honor" that would cause a father to turn away his daughter when she's the victim of something completely beyond her control (hell, how could a real father turn away his daughter for any reason?) and then pursue her with murderous intent?

reply

Hmm yes it is hard..but I can understand his carracter..
Look he was fighting the muslims and his daughter is pregnant of a muslim child.
Immagine how he felt at that point.

reply

I love it because it was not tipical anti Serbian movie !

reply

yup finally a movie that tells the truth........not tipical anti Serbian movie...........

reply

It's the Balkan "honor". In the peace-time Serbian courts rape victims are not victims unless they can prove they actively resisted the rapist (now just imagine the family's reaction).

reply

SVU had an episode in which a Serbian girl is the victim of a serial rapist, and she is ashamed and afraid to report it because she's afraid of what her brother might do. It's this same "honor" thing. Yeh, right, resist rape when you're being held hostage as Vera was, and take a bullet through the head. THAT is what her father isn't willing to understand. I have no sympathy for him (or his ilk) whatsoever.

When I saw what people are capable of, I started to feel sad and hated my self for every bad choice I had made in my life.
