Loved the movie

Absolutely brilliant movie. Loved it. The war was shocking for everybody. And the saddest part was that it proved again that UN is useless.

I have not seen this film, shame on me. Robert Orr is an old friend and we all shared his excitement when Stone picked up the option. Bob had this out there for a long time. If you care to know a little background, Bob was in the former Yugoslav republic when the *beep* really started to fly. One of the people he met was a mercenary who, after several days of very painful conversations about his "business," agreed to let Robert record (that is write down) the story that became "Savior."
I refuse to hold this film in judgment. The powers that be in the U.S. government flatly refused to take action. Read the Pulitzer Prize winner "A Problem From Hell" by Samantha Power. She was there as a CNN correspondent. Or read "An Ordinary Man," by Paul Rusesabagina, who was the manager of the Hotel des Mille Collines in Kigali, Rwanda. Need I say more. I have had the pleasure of meeting Paul on more than one occasion; the story he tells is not that different from Samantha Power's or Robert Orr's. They all want to know where were the powerful nations; the ones for whom a gesture, a word of condemnation, or an ultimatum, could have prevented 800,000 deaths in Rwanda or the 5,000 to 10,000 massacred men and boys at Srebrenica.
So when I hear people talk about these cinematic portrayals being exaggerations and spewing their self righteous personal knowledge of these acts of inhumanity beyond belief, I can only say, If you do not believe in the power of a greater evil than that in men's hearts and minds, I pity you. IMHO.

This movie is so powerful, I wish it was more well known! I bought it a few years back and am so glad that I did.

I believe every war shows us two things. That people are capable of acts of bravery, compassion & heroism. And that they are capable of acts of unspeakable cruelty, sadism and hate. It is not limited to one nation or one region. It is in the base of human being. The choice we make it the one determining the act..
