Quaid's finest performance.

A powerhouse performance from Quiad, it was good to see a Hollywood A-lister taking on such a role especially in a film about a war that recieved little coverage in America.

Me too.

I have never really got over seeing this film. It is really a tour-de-force by Quaid.

The scene at the river with the soldiers, good God. I have never seen anything like that, even from Saving Private Ryan. Pure evil at work.

Then the scene with Quaid and Vera in the barge, when he's trying to keep her quiet just broke my heart. Amazing, amazing, amazing.

I cannot recommend this film enough, but beware it is not for the squeemish.

There is a brilliant post on the next tread by a Serb who thinks the whole thing is a propagand piece.

This just shows how bad humans are to fellow humans. It is not a slur on the Serbs (even though they deserve a lot of the blame)

I couldn't agree with you more. This movie really touched me and Quaid did an amazing job in it.

Just watched it a 2nd time after a few years of not seeing it, Quaid's best performance I was in tears when he was crying for the baby in the boat.

Without doubt! It is still the only film that can make me boo like a baby.

This is such a realistic and yet, beautifully acted out film.

I didn't think i would really like it but I decided to watch it because of the setting in Bosnia. I was blown away from the first five minutes when the bomb goes off in the cafe.

This really is one of the most emotional films of all time.

I agree.. Quiad did the film proud.

This performance was during that couple of years back that a number of people were thinking that the Academy Awards should open up the number of slots for best actor nominee. People like Guy Pearce, George Clooney, Anthony LaPaglia were shut out of the nominations although their work merited that level of honor. Dennis Quaid definitely up there with those guys. The film is not politically correct towards Muslims but I think that the filmakers went to great lengths to show how bad all sides can be in a conflict. This is the kind of film that can be seen as simple and propangandistic but it worked for me.

I admire this film tremendously, for all sorts of reasons, e.g., the story, the acting, the "feel."

Quaid's performance is, to me, the heart of the film. But while I don't want to compare apples to oranges, Quaid's performance in "Wyatt Earp" also ranks right up there in my view.

Quaid's Doc Holiday couldn't save "Wyatt Earp." But the scene in which he first meets Costner's Earp -- the two sitting at the table -- is a great piece of acting (at least on Quaid's part).

It's two very "hard" men deciding, on very short acquaintance and against all the odds - that they might like each other.

Ok, somehow, I felt his acting was really forced at the start of the film. it might just be me, but it felt off to me. once the movie really started he was amazing!

I am sorry to disagree. The objective of this film is quite sincere, yet my negative opinion on Quaid's performance drove me to IMDB to check out other people's viewpoints. Good for Quaid that he has a number of admirers. I found his acting over-the-top, up to the ridiculous. He has a Hollywood way of 'demonstrational' acting: 'now I am going to show you how I look when I get angry', 'now I am going to demonstrate what it looks like if I get very sad'. I found it totally unbelievable and unengaging.

But that's probably just me. When it comes to acting, I prefer subtext to text.

Best serious Quaid film in my opinion.

Totally agree...u can feel his emptyness and broken soul specially in the scene when he's staring at the body of a kid that he had shot before...Savior is such an under rated movie...

I think I finally found my copy on Amazon.

This movie was so powerful...and Quaid just nailed his performance. I can't believe this movie wasn't better recieved. It never even came to a theater in my region when it came out.

This is one of the few movies that has actually brought me to tears....and that is very hard to do.

This movie pushed Dennis Quaid to the top of my 'favorite actors' list.
