Need Some Help With Polish Language

I reciently viewed a movie with Boguslaw Linda titled "Happy New York." I watched this movie twice so that I could get a better understanding of the message the director was trying to convey concerning the immigration experience of Poles who chose to come to the USA.

On one hand, I thought the movie did a pretty good job of expressing the frustrations and culture shock that must surely be felt by anyone chosing to leave one country for another. On the other hand, I was wondering if this movie wasn't also taking some sort of a slam against the US.

The main reason I am wondering this is because I did view the extra feature about the making of "Happy New York." I noticed in the interview with the director and actors, that the promotion poster was a photograph of the Statue of Liberty giving the finger. It was pretty clear that the main topic of this extra feature was about the US, but it wasn't translated into English, and I have no idea what was said exactly. I do realize that this is not the board for this particular movie, but If there is anyone who speaks Polish and has seen "Happy New York" that would be willing to give me more of an insight about this extra feature, (or perhaps, even the movie in general. I have only the subtitles to rely on) I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

hey,

what they are trying to show in that movie is how the polish immigrants belittle themselves for a dollar. Thats realy the essence of it.
And the reason why the Statue is giving them a finger is to show that living in America is not what you see on "90210".

I am Polish, born and raised, and proud of it.
And I must admit that they probably didnt even show half of crap that goes on in Greenpoint.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you for your reply. I posted this so long ago I had almost forgotten about it. I take it you are from New York? You wouldn't happen to be a Boguslaw Linda fan would you?
