I don't get it

Don't understand all the hate this movie receives? This is one of my all time favorite movies, love it, watch it all the time. Everything about this movie is awesome to me, my favorite being the chemistry between Kilmer and Shue. It comes across as very real and if it wasn't it sure was some great acting to make it look that way. I love all his disguises, love the Russian locations / architecture, love the cinematography, love the Tretiak villains, love the score, love the story. I think this is an absolute gem of a movie. Is it everybody's complaints that it's not like the books or the old TV series? I can understand that but is it impossible to just take the movie for what it is? A good, fun flick.
