Not all movies from 1997 look dated. Men In Black has aged incredibly well and still stands up today.
But this? It just looks old. From the clothes, to editing, to computers used, to camera angles, to score.
Maybe the fact that it was shot in Russia and they were using old equipment or something. Looks more like 1992.
It's been immortalized on film forever, it doesn't change. It's just as good today as it was then. I don't think it looks dated at all. It looks exactly like it's supposed too. You are getting older so I'd say that's why you think it looks dated since you've probably changed, the film hasn't. When I watch it it still looks crisp and clear as it did when it was released. It looks exactly like 1997 did.
shareNow sometimes it's the movie betraying its age. Remember that Sandra Bullock movie The Net? That was probably cutting-edge for 1995 but now it looks corny.
