I've always loved this movie. It's hilarious, cute, and I find the friendship between Romy and Michele to be incredibly touching and real.

With that said, Romy and Michele are just as superficial as the A group. Michele treats Sandy like *beep* in high school, but at the end, when he turns out to be a billionaire, she perks up and is quite interested. I'm not sure if this was the point, as they're supposed to be the heroes of the movie, but it kind of takes away from the message that I thought the film was supposed to have.

This is gonna *beep* do for him what Jade did for David Caruso.

Remember though that it didn't seem like she ended up with him at the end. Also, I thought it was mean of Sandy to say to Heather, "It's not really special unless you love the person" at the prom, although I'm sure he wasn't trying to be mean.

I don't think Sandy was aware that Heather was in love with him, to be honest. He was actually quite oblivious since he was so madly in love with Michele.

It just seems like every character in this film is superficial and judgmental. Even at the end, when Heather realizes that Sandy is now a billionaire, she is disgusted and loses interest immediately.

I still think the friendship in this movie is very sweet and well-done, but it just feels like Michele and Romy are just as superficial as the A-group, only not as cruel and bitchy.

Good point in regards to Sandy being oblivious to Heather's feelings. I didn't find it shallow of Heather to have lost interest in Sandy after he arrived at the reunion. Frequently how you remember people from high school is nothing like how you'll view them when meeting up with them later on.

I agree completely about the unpopular characters being no better then the popular ones. I've found that's very common on teen movies. Mean Girls (Janis Ian) and Never Been Kissed (Aldys) are two others that come to mind.

Heather was the best! I like that she lost interest in the weird, interesting, nerdy guy as soon as he became a boring, successful, conventional billionaire. Good for her! If anything she was by far the least shallow character. She wasn't interested in wealth, status and conventional ideas of attractiveness; she was interested in people who had the guts to be different and follow the beat of their own drum.

I agree, although I quite liked Lisa (Elaine Hendrix's character) too. Not necessarily nice, but she had a mind of her own. I like how she sort of sided with Romy & Michele at the end.
