This was my first impression too! Although this is more of a comedy whereas SoaT was suspense.

Good observation, but there is a difference. In this movie, the stated objective wasn't to kill anyone, but only to make them suffer. One death was an accident; the other wasn't, but it was not intended by the person who had been wronged.
