One of the worst movies I have ever seen!!!

Luckily I got this on video at a Summer fete and only paid 30p for it!!! It was such a crap film, lacked charisma in characters, just dull and boooooring! I forced myself to watch it right until the end just so that I can say that I actually watched it all. Someone can have my copy for free, in fact I will pay you the 30p to take it away!!

Really? I thought this was a pretty decent "Creature Feature." Certainly not Oscar-worthy, but a pretty solid 'B' monster flick I thought. To each his own I guess.

reply

I enjoyed it too and I have seen loads of horror movies and B-monster movies.

It's quite funny and some of the actors had good lines. The film also moves along at a good pace. When the Kathoga turns up on opening night, all hell breaks loose. My only gripe with the movie is how annoying and obnoxious Margo's character was. We already had two jerks in the film with Gregg Lee and the rent-a-cop museum security dude, we didn't need a third.

I always keep an open mind when watching a film-adaptation as they always take liberties with the source material. I haven't read the book but it sounds like they left out all the best bits when they made the movie which is an odd move. I have the book on order from Amazon so I'll compare the two once I've read it.

Book's fantastic, I really recommend you read it. Trouble is that the movie has spoiled it for you in a small way.

The film stands on it's own as a pretty decent creature feature with plenty of gore but the book is without peer in it's genre IMO.

You were lucky enough to only pay 30p. We were unlucky enough to pay full price to see it in the Cinema. There is nothing about this film that makes it worthy of being described as good. In fact I registered with IMDB today because I couldn't believe this film got a rating of over 5 stars. We have seen some bad films since but it is a standing joke in our house that they aren't as bad as The Relic. To say it is stands up as a 'B' Movie is an insult to that genre of films. The film was released as a main stream film and was just awful. I felt sorry for the actors - I wonder if they knew what they were signing up to ?

The only gripe I have with this movie is the lighting. Other than that, it was overall a good scary movie. Y'all didn't like it, understandable. It's not even the worst movie ever seen! Whatever....

I can't understand how someone can't enjoy it as a pop-corn movie. Everything doesn't need to be stimulating for the brain you know. However, at least it tried to root the creature's existence into science rather than myth like other werewolf or vampire movies. Although it didn't go into details as the book did, it still made an admirable effort for its time. Alterations were regrettable but they don't make the movie worse. About the constant lighting complaints, well in my opinion they were just following the book, and very well too. In almost every descriptive sentences or paragraphs about the long hallways or that chaos in the end, they were described as 'barely lit' or 'in complete darkness'.

This movie was freaking awesome, what didn't you like about it?

This is one of my favourite movies.

I gave it a 10.

It seems to me like a lot of people go into these types of films already expecting to hate them and ready to hop online the moment the credits roll to complain about how awful they were.

reply

Charisma in characters?? Watch a f'ing drama instead! This is a creature feature and it delivered! Good movie! Something tells me you haven't seen a lot of movies if this is "one of the worst", lol.

reply

I agree. Total dud.

I feel more like I do now that when I first got here...

reply

Charisma in a horror movie? lol, freakin' classic!

reply

If this is 'one of the worst movies you've ever seen', all I'll say, you gotta watch more movies.

I liked the whole idea of it. Its a horror movie and not to many of them are Oscar winners. The only thing I hated was it was so dang dark that it was as if we were there in the dark. I mean how dark can a film get.

I'll take that offer! Send me a PM and I'll give you the address to send the movie and the 30p to.
