I don't care what anyone says. This movie is great!

I always watch it when it comes on cable. Its a guilty pleasure. The annoying characters make it fun. The creature is scary as hell. The scene with Penelope Ann Miller running away from it and the creature on fire behind her scares the crap out of me every time. So if yo don't like it, you can "Go to Hell!"

And even Tom Sizemore before he went to save private Ryan and lose his career.

Why do you think that is? What happened to Sizemore after Private Ryan? Does it have anything to do with this specific movie or wasn't it rather his public behavior, being often drunk or/and on drugs and all? Maybe Sizemore is simply a Robert Downey Jr. but without the blessing of an Iron Man franchise?

I've always liked Sizemore, he was good in Heat for instance and did a decent job in The Relic too.

I really enjoyed The Relic BTW, i totally agree with OP. This is one of those movies i've watched when i was a teenager and that have become very close to cult classics in my memory despite their apparent flaws, just like Deep Rising or Mimic or Jeepers Creepers.

Guilty pleasure is definitively the right term.

I love this movie. It's like a modern version of a classic 50s monster flick and doesn't get enough credit.

I completely agree with the OP, this movie was scary as hell and was WAY ahead of its time. I absolutely LOVED it. Another awesome horror movie is The Descent.
