Halfway thru the book and....

....man,they`ve changed everything! Except for the title and some characters names nothing is the same. I mean nothing at all. Why?! The book is absolutely brilliant and scary as hell so far. And to NOT include Pendergast is the biggest mistake they did. Such a great and funny character.
I wish someone would make a new movie but alot more like the book this time.
I saw the movie before I read the book and I thought it was pretty good. After reading half the book I lost most of my respect for the movie. HOw and WHY could they do something like this !!!??? I wonder what Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child think about the movie?

Pendergast has a whole series of books now, 15 so far. There is a sequel to Relic called Reliquary which is just as good.Personally, i think they blew it with the movie adaptation. Hopefully the outcry for a remake will make Preston and Child TCB. Pendergast made the books.

I have Reliquary. Gonna read it soon. Nice to hear it`s as good as Relic was. I will get the whole Pendergast series cuz althogh I`ve just read one of the books, I really love the characters involved and cant wait to read some more.
And a remake of Relic more faithful to the book would be great.

I think it works better without Pendergast. And the books following Relic are supernaturalist horror, whereas Relic was at least possibly pseudoscience. The others are a departure, for me.

Only problem I had with the they adapted the Relic is that they couldn't make Reliquary afterwards. Some of the essential characters to the sequel were killed in the movie.

My favorite Preston and Childs book so far is Cabinet of Curiousities. I'm up to date and have read all of their books. I love the character Pendergast. My biggest discussion re: a movie with Pendergast in it is this...who should play him? My friend says the guy who was in one of the Dan Brown movie adaptations.....I'll have to go back onto IMDB and see the actors name. Hold on. I'll post in a minute.

Paul Bettany is the actor she'd like to see play Pendergast. Who would you like to see bring that character to life?

I also couldn't understand why Agent Pendergast wasn't in the movie. Vince D'Acosta was Agent Pendergast's sidekick in the novel, not the main character. I love the books, but movie wasn't very good. And I was even more disappointed when I found out that the screenplay was written by the authors of the book.
