This movie was good but . . .

I never bought whatever chemistry was supposed to be between Richard Gere and his defense attorney. I couldn't buy any American in his position, after all he had gone through --- beatings, attempted killings, corrupt rigged trials --- once he had made it to the American Embassy returning to face trial.

And the pain seemed forced. Him with his dead wife and kid. Her with her experience seeing injustice and mistreatment of her family.

And the drama seemed forced also. His emotional reactions and concern for her. Her with virtually no emotion.

The airport scene at the end was touching but until then I saw no feeling between the two.
