the second mrs. de winter.... *spoilers...*

i loathed the fact that they mentioned the 2nd mrs. de winters' first name.
part of the charm of the movie/book is that the amidst the whole adoration of rebecca, that the 2nd mrs. de winter's name appeared irrelevent.
it is mentioned in the book that her name was "unusual," and to give her such a run-of-the-mill name is a horrific let down.

other than that, it was pretty good :D

When did they give her a name? I watched this recently, and can't remember such a scene.

No, they didn't mention her name. At one point in the party someone calls her "Josephine" but that's only a reference to Napoleon's Josephine, I believe. Nowhere in the movie do they mention the 2nd MDW's name.

Maybe you think of the moment at the ball when she comes down the stairs and is announced as Caroline de Winter. Correct?
That was the name of the ascendent to Mr. de Winter that was on the painting. At least it is in the novel.

Just got done watching this movie, and yes, at one point (the ball??) she is announced as Mrs. Caroline De Winter.

If you read the novel, Caroline de Winter is one of Maxim's ancestors. She's the one in the painting.

In the book Maxim says that she has a beautiful and unusal name, but I think he is referring to her surname. Perhaps Du Maurier wrote it with her own name in mind!
