A slightly random question (The Lover?)

In the scene where Claire Danes and Matt Damon make a secret rendez-vouz in the movie house, the Movie "L'Amant"/The Lover by Jean-Jacques Annaud seems to be playing on the screen. It was the love scene where the main actor and the young girl share a passionate embrace. It seemed fitting as Danes' character mentions sex at that moment.
