Movie Versus Book....Some Magical Moments

Hi All,

I finished reading the Rainmaker early last week and was building up my anxiety to watch the movie...
I managed to watch the DVD yesterday and was a bit disappointed ..maybe because I had skyrocketed my expectations after reading the book.. the movie was definitey not bad ..infact good but not as awesome as the book..
Maybe the time limit caused it ..or something ...

Some roles which mapped to the movie... Claire Danes was excellent as the sweet and frail Kelly Spiker. I would have wanted the last page in the book in the movie.. Where Rudy asks .. " where do we go ,east or west " Kelly says "I wanna see the mountains and big mountains " and Rudy replies" ok then lets go west "

These were some real magical moments in the book which could have been captured in the movie..

Get the new DVD and you'll get your wish. There are deleted scenes, one of which is the ending you described as well as a surprising wrap-up involving Deck Shifflet.

I think this was an excellent adaptation of the book. They simplified the legal issues but I think this was justified. They boiled it down whether or not the treatment required was experimental and this provided the basis for that dramatic moment when the defense case fell apart.
