That sidestory with the blonde chick was super annoying...

It did nothing for the main storyline nor was it actually interesting in any way.

In fact it was horribly unoriginal and cliche.

I realize the movie is somewhat dated, but come on.

Law and Medical schools weed out those with empathy or 'feelings', rather quickly. I believe they wanted to portray Baylor as unusual, in that respect.

To quote da Vinci in this context is just plain stupid.

How about you switch your brain on before your pavlovian reflex forces you to barf your irrelevant opinions into the forum?

To me the main story is not about the big trial, but about Rudy starting out as a lawyer, hence having him defend others is good.

I thought it annoying also and not just because I can't stand Claire Danes. I just
find the predictable and obligatory romance subplot so often found in movies, boring and unimaginative.

The film just didn't need it. We already know Rudy is good and decent by the way he handles the case and the way he treats his landlady, they didn't need to beat us over the head with what a great guy he was in taking a poor little injured bird under his big protective wing.
