this REALLY needs a Special Edition

think of the extras:

outtakes
cast commentry
a wack-pack commentry
deleted scenes
a documentry about what's happened to the Stern Show since the film.
uncensored clips from Howard's TV show.

seriously, if they decide to make a Special Edition DVD, i'd really love to see/hear these extras.

bump

i'm a real whore for sequels and DVD extras

reply

Yea that would be nice maybe in 2007 it will get one

reply

I love this movie and I want to get the DVD. I'm just waiting for the eventual Special Edition to hit shelves.

My thoughts are that he's just waiting to get situated at Sirius Satellite Radio and then will start work on the Special Edition. I've heard he really wants to do one so there's a VERY good chance we will get one.

i agree a Special Edition Dvd Needs to be made

thats how i felt, until i picked it up at best buy for 4.99 two days ago.

I seem to remember Stern saying that Paramount had no interest in doing anything further with this, and so he offered to buy the rights and release it himself, but they didn't want to sell...? Does anybody else recall this? I've heard there could be a 3hr+ version of this, with more Jackie, more classic radio bits, etc. Plus commentary would be cool.

reply

Yes, I've heard the same thing. Stern wants to do it, but Paramount is dragging their feet with it. Most likely their is a CBS/Paramount connection that is stalling the process.

Private Parts 2 would never get made, unless it was straight to howard on demand(good move). Howard just doesn't have the following or the passion anymore. Enjoy your revolution.

reply

Why doyou keep mentioning in several posts in Private Parts to "enjoy your revolution"? Howard Stern is still revolutionizing the industry. Hell he even unbeknownst to him revolutionized twitter by giving commentary when PP was on HBO and he was tweeting commentary to his followers. THAT was revolutionary and this just occured within the last month as he mentioned this on the Jay Leno show a few weeks ago.

reply

No, Kevin Smith did it before Howard did. I'm a Howard fan but he was not the first guy to do that with a movie. People posted tweets from other film people that were done way before Howard did his.

reply

I also recall Stern saying he offered to buy the rights so he could re-release the film. He said he had tons of extras he could throw on there. Same with the old Channel 9 shows. I think he said they were sitting in a warehouse in Jersey somewhere collecting dust and they wouldn't sell them.

reply

I don't think he is waiting, i don't think there was any special features. Howard is too perfect for outtakes (seeing he is doing 5 hour shows everyday) :P !

reply

Yeah...maybe he could throw in a little truth while he is at it.

reply

Howard has stated on the air that there are tons of great scenes that weren't included in the movie, that he'd love to include in a special edition. The company that owns the movie didn't have any interest in releasing the stuff though.
