Self Serving and far from honest

I love Howard Stern, I admit it. When they took him off the air in my town, I cried, literally. When Howard and Robin did the news, with Fred and Jackie cutting in, pure comedy heaven. I have bought his books as well. Now, my problem. This movie portrays Howard as this naive, babe in the big city. This is so false. Howard is a jerk! OK? He is a jerk and an a-hole. Anybody that has heard his show, knows that some of his material goes so far in the gutter and deals with such horrendous topics (mocking Selena and Mother Thresa's deaths for example)that it is not even funny (literally). No, this bogus movie is pure fiction. It tries to make Howard a Saint and an all-around good guy. After all, if he was all of those things, why would anybody listen to him?

because people just by into his radio/TV persona, and don't care or want to know abou the real man, that's why they listen...anyway, best part of the movies was the AC/DC concert.

Because Howard Stern has a vicious side to his personality doesn't mean that he isn't vulnerable as well. He frequently opens up about his own insecurities. Typically those who are as judgmental and quick to criticize as he is do so protectively because they are insecure.

All of it stems from his childhood and the way his father treated him. Howard has gotten a lot of mileage out of the tapes of his dad yelling at him for being a "stupid moron" for giving "foolish answers" to the adult minded questions his dad was asking of a 6 year old. These tapes probably only scratch the surface of a childhood filled with harsh, bordering on abusive, criticism.

On one hand it creates his insecurity because of the lack of approval from his parents and on the other it establishes a pattern of behavior that he himself has followed. Most people end up treating their own children in the same way that their parents treated them. Instead Stern channels his harsh, bordering on abusive, criticism onto celebrities and the people he works with.

With people are there no black and whites. Howard does have his jerky side, but it doesn't mean that he doesn't have his tender more vulnerable side.

Why did stern stop using the n word for. Is there a specific reason?

Because you know Howard personally so well?

Excellent post.

The whole movie is a fraud.

I might.

I make a point of NOT listening to him because he's a nasty, opportunistic SOB. And because he's got the tastes and obsessions of a 12 year old boy. I still don't understand how adults can be so endlessly titillated by his efforts to shock them. I mean, given that the average 12 year old boy lacks freedom and agency in so many ways, it's understandable that he would gravitate to taboo words and themes. But adults? I just don't get it. "Oooooo, titties! Oooooo, he said a bad word!. Oooooo, he called someone a bad name!

Really?

Going by what I saw in this movie, Stern seems to have a gift for establishing intimate rapport with his audience. Other than that, his main "gift" appears to be utter shamelessness. May Stern's children learn from their father and practice that shamelessness on him to his face, day after day, year after year, for the rest of his life.
