Ross Buckingham

Did this guy really exist ? is he an amalgamation of people from sterns history? does he go by another name.

reply

I don't know but it seemed like a guy that was stuck in the past by 30 years. Sad but true but radio back then was dominated by drones like this. Thank God for Howard Stern

I agree. I found the scene where Buckingham is humiliated during the kielbasa segment very satisfying affront to his pretentiousness.

Ross Buckingham was based upon Neal Seavey, Howard's newsman before Robin joined the show. If you go to youtube, you can hear old shows with Neal in studio, and it's clear he doesn't fit in at all. Seavey died in 1985 at 47.

This is some good info thank you.

can't really find anything on youtube about him though.

In real life, Robin didn't initially go with Howard to New York and NBC. He was hired away and she stayed in Washington.

Until he could get her hired he had other newscasters in the studio with him.
