Favorite scene in the movie

They're having the chicken dinner. It starts when Billy Bob Thornton's character Richard Jemmons says, "Next time I see my Mama, she's blind."

Look at how great this scene is. The camera pans from the Mama-conversation to the campaign-conversation, then Thornton's yelling, throwing a chair, crying. Everyone's singing (except Henry) and talking. And all in one take - one screw-up and they'd have to do it all over again. They must've rehearsed for a while to get this one done right.

The scene where Stanton cuts the Thanksgiving turkey is also a pretty well-choreographed long take.

Anything with Billy Bob. He was so hilarious in this movie.

That scene for me is COMEDY! First Thornton's dramatics, and then the black couple's over-the-top Swing Low Sweet Chariot.

"Comin for to carry me home"!!

@queenshan And then Henry's "Fück this shït" look as he checks his watch. Comedy gold.

And the dogs howling at the group rendition of You are My Sunshine. :-)

Another funny quote for me is when Stanton throws a fit (and the phone).
He's like *beep* All!!

But I have to say, I actually shed a couple tears every time with Libby's two monologues near the end.
Kathy Bates is so amazing in this film. This movie is underrated.

Oh, and Billy Bob Thornton:
"I got some slave in me, I can feel it!"

That scene at the dinner is priceless. Henry signed onto a presidential campaign expecting professionalism, and here they are cuddling the political strategist who had a breakdown.

I'd be wondering what I was doing there, if anything else like this was going to continue, and if it was too late to sign on with anybody else.

it really shows what type of person Susan is in private--warm and empathetic....she goes up to help Richard and soothe him. People do not see this side of her on the campaign trail because she conceals it.

Libby's test on the stantons and her final monologue. floored.

Absolutely stunningly moving. Brought me to tears. Kathy Bates should have received an Oscar. Maybe she did?
