Was Krispy Kreme paid product placement?

Not all product appearances are paid of course/ It's funny, the lengthy shot of the KK franchise in the film was almost too long, making me think it was just a good visual location. Wonder where that location is/was?

Good eye. I'm pretty sure it was just an exterior set made for the film. The size of the building was too small, the location wasn't conducive to the chain, ( built between a hotel parking lot and a factory), but also the exterior florescent green lights which provided a great effect, wasn't accurate with the actual coffee shops.

The long non-cutaway shot you referred to was something Nichols loved to do in his films.

I'm a little doubtful about that. I've seen other awkwardly placed KK locations using that same building design here in the south. I think it was just a lucky find for some location scout. It is pretty visually stunning, and I imagine the film crew used their magic to enhance the lighting for sure. But it looks like a functioning KK kitchen.

Sorry, It became an obsession.

The address is/was 305 S Los Angeles St, Los Angeles CA. I'm afraid The Krispy Kreme was a prop set up at the edge of a Parking lot, for there's a four lane road between the doughnut shop in the film and the storefront behind it. Had it been a real location, it would have faced the opposite location and towards the street.

It was shot at night and obviously the street was blocked off during the actual shoot.
