The 5K was always a difficult event for track runners. But I shocked when I noticed this.....

Just goes to prove how great Steve Prefontaine was for it to take 30 plus years for another American to break his record.

I've always kind of wished that they let Pre keep one of his records in a less common race. He had every one from 2000 to 10,000. I would feel like an ass hole if I broke a record set by Prefontaine in some petty race that isn't run often.

I don't think I could break his record either. Not saying I could, ever! I'm just saying, if I was about to, I don't know if I could actaully do it. It's Steve Prefontaine! Honestly! He was amazing!

Pre was an amazing runner but wasn't he mean to a lot of people and didn't he cheat of his fiance and later his girlfriend?

Mean? No. A competitor and confident yeah. Cheat of his fiance? Try the preview feature before posting.
