Othe movies about Running
Asside from the 2 movies about Pre, can someone tell me more movies about running and real Athletes? (documentaries would be the best).
I can only remember Chariots of Fire...

Four Minutes (2005) is an ESPN movie about Roger Bannister's efforts in the early 1950s in still very austere post-WWII Britain to become the first human to run a mile in less than, duh, 4 minutes. I really liked it.

shareThere's the 1978 Michael Douglas film called "Running." Not particularly stellar, but on topic. A much better film is Britain's "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner" from 1962, but it's much more than a movie about running.
You might argue that "Personal Best" qualifies. A movie that doesn't qualify, but has a nice competitive running subplot, is the 1979 Bill Murray comedy "Meatballs."
The Prefontaine documentary Fire on the Track
Gallipoli, an early Mel Gibson movie that merges running with war.

Running starring Michael Douglas (1979?)
Personal best starring Mariel Hemingway (late 70s/early 80s)
