Very Poorly Made

I really have no issue with the portrayal of Poles in this movie, since I don't really know any, but I have to say that this is one of the most poorly made films I've ever seen. No wonder the writer/director's career is MIA after this. There's no "Polish Wedding" to be seen, Jadzia cheats on her husband, he finds out, and the next thing you know they're in bed and start having sex. No discussion. It's just like her infidelity never happened! And WTF was with that scene where he screams in the middle of the night and accused his wife of stabbing him with her toenails?? A disjointed film to say the least...

I can see where you're coming from but I think this movie is supposed to be off-beat and strange and it succeeded... I think all the faults you list were intentional. Not all movies are supposed to be the same. I think this one came out as intended.

it is the worst movie like everr

Yeah the "I hate you. I hate you too." (cue: making out) thing and the toenail scene (clearly suggesting the husband is blowing up) are just cliches masquerading as profundity.

It's not that the movie was poorly made; it was just an awful script. The movie itself had some great shots, beautifully composed music, and pretty decent acting.

I loved it I cant see how anyone could not enjoy it ive seen it 20 times at least lol and hey they are just people so they chose this polish family big deal, I didn't take offense to the script they are just like anyone else in the world and Lena Olin is so hot!

The film is supposed to be very quirky, an offbeat dramedy.
That said, its not the best film in the world. Its more than a little mean-spirited & it drags in quite a few spots.
I will say its beautifully filmed, and the lovely ladies in it look very lovely indeed. Gabriel Byrne is also surprisingly good in a comedy.

I think people didn't know what 'kind' of film this was, it was advertised as more of a drama than a comedy.

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

For a comedy/drama/romance it failed miserably. It was basically a feign attempt to romanticize infidelity under the guise of a polish wedding. Btw...there's not even a wedding scene or anything close to one. The main story is about tramp wife who is finally caught then forgiven by the husband and then everything is well.
