Hamtramack, Michigan.

My father and I were fixing a roof near the set when I was a little younger...well. nearly ten years ago. We were nearby and met the cast and got to eat off the catering table. Every time we hear of the people Claire, and Gabriel, this movie is in our heads.

It appears to have been filmed mostly in Hamtramck, Michigan. I know the name looks misspelled, but it isn't. It is a suburb of Detroit, and is actually surrounded by Detroit.
