No. The only similarity between the two movies is the subject matter. The Players Club (from my perspective anyway) is way better than Showgirls.

Both have similarities with the villian lesbian determination to "turn out" the protagonist, ending with vengeance because of the rape of somebody they cared about. However The Players Club was far more down to earth dramatic & insightful than the glamorous Show Girls...it was moere edgy. However I loved both movies.

Don't like Showgirls, but this movie was really good and much better and had a lot more depth to it. It's only good to watch Showgirls if you are a guy who wants to watch topless chicks for 2 hours.
Showgirls is one of those movies where it is so bad it is good. I agree with your opinion on TPC, but there are so many hilarious scenes in Showgirls it is hard not to love it.

I seen Showgirls before it was decent not the greatest movie. I wouldn't compare it to The Players Club both was different. The Players club was about a woman trying to better herself and Showgirls was just something for the guys yeah like in The Players Club there was a rape scene but the rape scene in Showgirls wasn't like a "lesson learned" thing for the girl.

LOL!! ummmm, riiight. Both films suck but I think PC is more entertaining than SG. SG is kind of dull. At any rate, I just saw PC for the first time and had to post about it because it did remind me of SG. share
