If its based on real story, anyone know what the real flower might be?

I haven't seen this movie yet but I live in Germany and there is a flower called Angels Trumpet and it's been on the news quite a few times because it caused people to do some pretty crazy things while they were on it...

I don't know if you're still interested, but the plant is called Datura, there are many varieties and often they grow wild everywhere. The flower is associated with the Hindu god, Shiva. In India it is placed in temples dedicated to him. It is also a very powerful hallucinogen. Making tea is the preferred method...all(most)of the bad incidents are caused from smoking the leaves which is not recommended.

reply

Excuse me, but are you all mad?! You can't go round recommending Datura! As far as I know, drinking the tea is even more dangerous than smoking it, which is not to be recommended either! Supposedly there were Indian "brigands" who mixed it with food, giving that to "guests" thus making living zombies - if they survived. And the plant in the film wasn't Datura. It was a little star-shaped flower, whereas Datura has big, chalice-like flowers.

No one is RECOMENDING trying Datura, silly. REREAD what you thought you read and stop wasting your time worrying.

This movie is amazing, and like a lot of movies, it isn't purely fiction. I saw this movie a while ago and loved it, but it was still a bit wierd for me. Since then, I have managed to take my own fairy photos. Yes you can photograph fairies, they do exist, and it's not hallucination. I'm sure there are many other people who have discovered this, and it's a wonder that so many people are oblivious to it. Fairies are a reality and there are many other 'supernatural' things that most people would laugh at, but are as real as anything. I would say I know how to photograph fairies, and it's really very simple, but it's a personal thing and maybe it only works for me. The one thing I would say is use a digital camera; I think the sound and the flash of the normal camera scares them off. It's something about using trance to summon them, experiment.

You FREAK!!!! Are you on Datura if not then tell me what because your tripping! cool

reply

HAHA!! No I assure you I am not on Datura, but I can see how it might seem like it. Good on you for your response, but I'm actually being serious. Fairies are talked about in fictional stories, but I don't really think it is fiction. Harry Potter is great; the books and movies are fiction, but magic is real, and there's nothing fictional about it for someone who knows. But yeah, I guess some people might attribute it all to drugs like Datura, but it's much bigger than that my friend.

why don't you post some photos for us?

It is indeed Datura. But I wouldn't recommend doing them without experiencing a small dose first. Of course in a safe environment, with a friend.

Psilocybin mushrooms on the other hand are much safer.

When on both, the two things to remember are that it is the drug, and not you. You are not going crazy. Only your perception has changed, not the world. And the loss of ego can frighten people as well. I've never had any of these problems, but I've heard of others who have. So all I can say is, read up. www.Erowid.com

And don't go crazy because I'm recommending drugs. We're all influenced to do many things in life. If you don't want to, don't. If you do, do.

I don't think the plant exists. It is not Datura, that's for sure. Everyone here is recommending Datura, which is a large trumpet-like flower.
