PHANTOMS LIKE A MO'FO......BITCH

I know how you feel, it is a shame that some of my favorite characters (Tal, Gordy and Frank Autry) are missing. Even the whole subplot with the child killer (who's name escapes me at the moment). The movie is good, but not as great as the novel was.

You also have to understand that a film is a different entity than a book - the novel will always be there for those who love it and want to read it. The film is an interpretation of it.

No one HAS to understand anything. I enjoyed the movie, and I loved the book. And don't give me that interpretation crap. I can mention several movies that failed because they were nothing like the book, or they were just lousy interpretations (The Lost World: Jurassic Park, 'salem's Lot, Along Came a Spider, Toy Soldiers, et cetera), and other movies that have excelled because they followed the story to a T (The Godfather, A Time to Kill, Misery, Saucy, et cetera).

Movies can be good or bad, depending on the viewers expectations. I went in to Master and Commander, expecting the movie to be like the books. While the story was there, the feeling was not, and I found myself looking at my watch. This movie was good because it was adapted with the love of the author. Other movies have succeeded in the eyes of the fans because they were adapted with the love of a fan. Movies like Watchers fail because they change the source material, or they weren't adapted with the love of a fan/author.

The child killer (Fletcher Kale) murdered his own wife and son. I was disappointed he and the biker (Gene Terr) were not in the movie. It also probably would have been more interesting if the restroom scene with Lisa and Stu were done by the book, it was a chilling moment.
