Any other films like this?other than silent hill.

An incredibly chilling film, loads of similarities to the silent hill games. Does anyone know of any similar films to this? and hope that the silent hill movie will be better/gorier/more intense?

Yes, it reminds me of The Thing...along with Alien, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, The Blob and The Blood Beast Terror. In fact, I'm pretty sure there are other horror movies that this mess has ripped off, but I can't think of them right now. Totally unimaginative!

I also saw this on TV last night and yes, I was instantly reminded of both The Thing and The Blob.

As soon as:

a.) "deadish" bodies started sprouting tentecals

b.) it began to snow

c.) a dog was starting to morph into something else

I thought "it's a (poorly done) remake of The Thing!"

I've never read the book, though. I want to now, although I won't get as much out of it as I'd like...

Why don’t you try with In the mouth of madness (1994) and check also the recommendation list of this movie.

To the original poster, watch Jacob's Ladder (1990). It has the same kind of images and visions as Silent Hill. SH's creator admitted to borrowing from some it.

Extremely Anticipating:
The Fountain
The Prestige
Pirates 3

Recommendation list? Imdb recommended Blue Streak for those interested in The Departed.

I found this movie to be an exact copy of The Thing. It was on the tellivision a long while back and recall this exact thought, "Is this The Thing 2?" [Note: I hadn't seen the name of the movie, and they only resaid it at the end of the movie. I didn't know if there even was a second part to The Thing]

The monster was an exact replication of sorts of the Thing. The element of paranoia was instilled, the mass of *beep* and the like.

You should probably see Jacob's Ladder like one of the posters above recommended.
