The recent "unique original cult hit" Slither basically has the exact same premise villian and plot.

Yeah dude, they're totally different.
One of them is purposely comedic, and has a bunch of slugs, and the other has a jello monster that can take any form.
I like both, but they're way different.

Creature, that can posses many bodies/create beings of his own, but have one collective hive-mind.
Main character (well, sort of) is a woman.
Low budget.
A hint for sequel in the very end of the movie.
Small town as a target of an unknown grim force.
Etc.
Though, plenty of horrors have same birthmarks. So, no crime here, i guess.

Slither did not ripped this movie off. It ripped off Night of the Creeps.
Slither still kicks ass.
LOL, Night of the Creeps. Now THAT was a fun horror movie. Didn't take itself too seriously and delivered. Slither is a bit of an amalgam of NOTC and Phantoms but still provided much enjoyment.

-Pod people
-Infected
So it's not a new concept there are a bunch of movies like that, what horror/thriller movies don't have a hint of a sequal?
I recently caught both of these movies on Cable, and yeah they are very similar

Some similar themes, perhaps, but these movies are very different. Different in tone and plot.
