The film's ending... and this Aya/Maya lineage nonsense...

Does anyone else hate that the Ultimate Being isn't even in the film? I haven't read the novel, but from what I understand of it, the Ultimate Being is born almost immediately after Eve impregnates Mariko, but it dies because of Toshiaki's mitochondria causing a rebellion. Why wasn't this included in the film? I thought it left the end of the film SEVERELY lacking. Her whole plan was to give birth to this Ultimate Being - why don't we ever even see that?

Also, for those who think that Aya and Maya are Mariko's children... errrrrrrrrr... what? The game is clearly a sequel to the NOVEL, as Maeda clearly says during the game that the Ultimate Being was born in Japan, and I believe it is Klamp who explains that the father's mitochondria caused a rebellion that caused the original Eve's plan to fail. So, if someone could explain to me where that nonsense came from, I'd love to know. If you've played the game you know that Eve-2 (in the game) is trying to do the same thing her "sister" did - but her sister made a mistake. This is why Klamp needs to remove all male mitochondria from the sperm he uses to impregnate Eve.

From what I understand male mitochondria is usually destroy and only the children get their mitochondria from their mothers. I believe this is a scientific fact.

Maybe I misread (I read the manga version of the novel untranslated and my Japanese isn't so good) but I was under the impression that the reason why the original Eve failed was not because of the mitochondria. It was because the child that she became pregnant with was actually a boy. In the manga, you see the Ultimate Being actually morphing into a male form.
