what is juliannas' and cates best scenes?

Cate: The scene where she and two others are brought in front of the Colonel and accused of having bad (Japanese) manners. She then lists the mis-treatments that the women have suffered and accuses the Colonel of having the "cheek" to say that *they* have bad manners. You really see a different side of her character for the first time in this brilliantly-acted scene.

the best scene of cate is when she has to kneel in the sun and in front and behind her are those stakes ... she's so strong ... well her character is so strong!

Julianna's is when glenn close's character talks hers out of joining the sex club. Fantastically well acted.

Cate: The scene in the office where she speaks out about the way the women have been treated.

Julianna: The scene where Glenn Close tells her she needs another soprano and not to join the sex club.

I loved all scenes mentioned by others regarding Cate. However, I love the one when she finds McDormand's character (the 'Dr') taking the teeth from the corpses. During the exchange, McDormand teases her about her background and when she tells her "Don't they teach you anything in Australia? Only about sheep?" she looks so vulnerable, like she is about to cry. A great moment where no dialoge was spoken.
I loved Julianna in all her sarcastic remarks, dry humor and faces she'd make. She is probably the one of the women I'd generally would like to take out for a drink. She seems like she'd be a lot of fun.
