shareYes, it's based on Betty Jeffrey's diaries which she published in book form under the title, White Coolies.
shareAnd on several (unmentioned) other camp biographies, like Helen Colijn's Song Of Survival. Helens two younger sister sang in the camp's voice orchestra. My mother was also imprisoned in those camps (Palembang, Muntok, Belalau).
