When they all hummed Ravel's Bolero!!!!
That particular number was so off key I can't tell you.
I know that song. They were all off pitch.
I was just wondering if any of you noticed this?

If they had performed it perfectly on pitch it would not have been realistic. These women were not allowed to rehearse or assemble together at all except for performances. The movie was not a musical.
shareOh, I had never thought of that. thanks for clearing this up.
Not really true. In her book Song Of Survival, Helen Colijn wrote that, at least in Palembang after starting the voice orchestra, Margaret Dryburgh and Norah Chambers and their singers rehearsed almost every evening.
Things got worse in Muntok (Island of Banka), and in the final camp Belalau Margaret and more than half of the singers had died.
