You never heard of scat in the sense of meaning *beep* It has other meanings, but this is also one of them.

"Scat" (hint: NOT the same thing as "poo") is the kind of music (usually in the jazz genre) where they just go on and on with nonsense syllables instead of words ("zebitty dooba bop" kind of stuff). "Scatman John" calls himself that because he does scat. In the song from the movie, there is a part where he goes "be bop ba bada ba, bop ba bada ba..." for a minute; that's scat.
