DVD? - No Child of Mine (1997) Discussion

I've been trying to get a copy of this for years now, does anybody know how i could get one?

It was broadcast some years ago on dutch television, subtitled, and it really shook me up. I felt devastated when, at the end, she was sitting at the dining table and on the radio the soft music 'In This Heart' played, a song by Sinead o'Connor, and then finally she broke...

It was reprised about a year later. That was my chance to tape it.

I have been searching for it, on TV, VHS and now DVD, for years. I would love to be able to find a copy of it. If you find it let me know and vice versa.

I've been looking for it for years also. I've got about the first half on video, I'm trying to think of where it cuts off. I know I've got as far as her moving into the carehome but not as far as her being abused in there. It was a fantastic film!

I've seen this twice now, I've hunting for on DvD also but nothing, there's nothing like this film, maybe only The War Zone is up with it someplace.

People need to keep emailing those people who should release it, they are just being lazy, it been years they should have released it by now; THEIR EMAILS SHOULD BE INUNDATED SO THEY WILL KNOW THAT THEY SHOULD GET TO WORK ON IT!

I've known several psych students and a few studying social studies that have wanted this tape/dvd for research as it seem's the most realistic interpretation of the abuse suffered in real homes. However if you think about it, why should a company release this on the general market? It would spur a flurry of sexual predator's. I read a review on the hassle the producer's had just to get it aired. I know people are gonna try and shoot me down with statements like 'releasing it would also show the abuse suffered, make people see the horror'. No it wouldn't. People won't buy it just to open their eyes. I'd love to get a copy for friends to come and view and help them with their reports but i'm not for the general release of this.

Welll how about the general release of The War Zone or Mysterious Skin if tey can out there in the public, and The War Zone has been out since 1991, why shouldn't No child of Mine?

As the writer of No Child Of Mine I did try to get a copy of it recently for myself but I couldn't find one - and there are, as far I know, no plans to release it.
I am personally very sorry about this because one of the purposes of writing a film like this is to put the issue out into the public domain.

I have to say gratefully that NCOM is a very bold piece of writing one of the boldest, you're even bolder to come on to the most ill-mannered part of the internet.

But back to the thing, as the writer isn't there anything you can do, or isn't there some obscure distribution company or produer person that you could arm twist to get rescue this film from the grave of obscurity. I because it would be more than a shame.

Its shameful that even the WRITER CAN'T GET A COPY ON DVD!!!!

There is nothing like this film, and I try to tell people about it but no one has heard of it, for obvious reasons.

Here's hoping

Ps:

With films like Hounddog coming out soon with Dakota Fanning staring in it maybe some kind of retrospective intrest can be highlighted at some sort of festival or something!

This movie rocks!
This maybe sound stupid but has any one checked out ebay or other auction sites
for home made DVD copys. I had taped it off tv but it got eaten by my VCR then I taped it again only in French but it got taped over by mistake so (I'm told)
It makes me think of another good movie called "Not in My Family (1993 TV) (A.K.A. Shattering The Silence)

Hi i got a copy of this film from lovelynumpty and i am so pleased that i did as i have been looking for this film to own for years now i got it i can watch it when ever my life gets me down i know there are children worse of as me.

I am so glad this film was made so people know what goes on in the world and hopeful let them know they can help them.

You can watch it through channel 4 on demand for free along with some other Peter Kosminsky films at the moment. Just watched and thought it was really moving.

I just bought this movie online, it was taped off tv, but it is a great copy on DVD. If you want to buy one too, just email this guy at [email protected] or [email protected] and they will sell it to you for like $14.

I also got from them JUST MELVIN, JUST EVIL a very disturbing documentary with real victims....it was tragic but a fantastic film.
